The base of Steamboat Ski Area has one definitive location with the new One Steamboat Place Building now fully online. One is quick to notice the new Wildhorse Gondola rising from the Meadows parking lot, crossing over Mount Werner Circle and descending where it comes to rest in the new plaza of One Steamboat Place.
There are very relevant reasons to know why this is the only corridor worthy of walking in ski boots or with a baby stroller. There are no stairs and the plaza is heated to keep it snow and ice free all winter long. As if this isn’t enough to make your jaunt to the slopes easy and carefree. There is an outdoor fire pit with built-in seating, Fleischer Sport (Steamboat’s newest and best shop at the ski slopes), Surefoot (the best ski boot fitting store in the country), the new Truffle Pig Restaurant (One of the Premiere Restaurants in all of Steamboat with its outdoor seating area looking over the slopes), the Truffle Pig Market and Deli (the best breakfast and lunch option at the base of the ski area) and the new ski school headquarters.
Yes, you can now go from the skier drop-off area to the Steamboat Gondola and have it all. The best gear, the best food, a social atmosphere, ski school and lift tickets. The Wildhorse Gondola is also free, so taking the family for a ride to see the ski base area from the sky and check out the action at the new Trailhead Lodge below is easily and comfortably accomplished.
It has been a long wait for all of us here in Steamboat to see the base area come together and thanks to the efforts and hard work of One Steamboat Place, Steamboat Ski Area and business entrepreneurs located within the plaza, this winter will truly be one to remember.
