We’ve had a dry spell. It’s hard to talk about. Sometimes I lay awake and night and wonder if it is ever going to snow again. For the last three weeks I woke up, looked out the window and saw a clear sky. Don’t get me wrong. The view is amazing, and the skiing has been pretty good. But I love the snow. Pretty much everyone in Steamboat loves the snow. And we depend on it like farmers depend on rain for their crops.
It was a dry November, but that doesn’t mean anything for how the season is going to end up. In 2007 the season started out just like this and that ended up being one of the best seasons on the books. And after last season, I’d be willing to bet that this season is gearing up to be another great one. Even if it is just an average season we’ll be thigh deep in champagne powder a few times a month. Average seasons in Steamboat are SPECTACULAR.
The GOOD NEWS is that the snow is back and the weather pattern has shifted! We received some natural snow on Sunday night and woke up to a valley painted white! Beautiful. Steamboat actually received more snow than any other currently opened ski resort in Colorado. But we don’t like to brag (that happens a lot!). The 10 day forecast from our friends at OpenSnow.com is calling for a pattern shift and more snow for all of Colorado.
So if your on the fence about whether you should plan a ski trip to Steamboat this year, bet on Steamboat. It may seem like a iffy now but wait two more weeks and you’ll see that Steamboat has great skiing and great snow and probably the best conditions in Colorado.
We would love to have you visit our quaint valley and take a few runs on our mountain. So when you do plan your trip, be sure to call us 1-970-870-0900 and reserve a pair of top-of-the-line rental/demo skis. We only carry the best. And the great thing is we are right at the base of the Gondola so you can leave all your gear at the shop and walk home in comfort. We are like your own ski concierge!
